| CLUB EVENTS SEASON 2007-08 FM Jacob Simul 20.09.07 FM Gunnar Jacob of the Castlehill Chess Club, gave a 22-board Simultaneous Display on Thursday 20th September. He won all 22 games.
Opening Night Blitz Tournament 06.09.07 The first event of the new season, a five-round blitz tournament, was won by Alan Borwell (4.5/5) but he was pushed all the way by Paul Shafi (4) and Donna Officer (4). Final table and photos can be viewed here.
SEASON 2006-07 Club Championship 02.04.07 The club championship was to be played as two 6 player round robin sections based on grading. Unfortunately, only a few games were played - and the future of the Club Championship will be looked into. The games that were played will be graded.
Club Junior Championship 03.04.07 The junior championship was played as an all-play-all tournament, with games arranged at mutually convenient times. The winner was Adam Legge with 11.5/13, with Jamie Lamont (11/14) and Hermes Manos (10/13) in second and third, respectively. Certificates were given to the other top 6 finishers: Declan Shafi, Cameron Conway and Orpheas Manos. Final table. GM McNab Simul 22.09.06 One of Scotland’s top grandmasters, Colin McNab, gave a 16-board Simultaneous Display on Thursday 21st September. He drew 3 games, to finish with a score of 14.5-1.5. Christmas Junior Fun Tournament 15.12.06 A Christmas fun tournament was held for juniors on 14 December 2006. Originally intended to be a casual-Swiss tournament, the speed of play turned it into an eleven player all-play-all. The joint winners were Adam Legge and Jamie Lamont who both scored 9/10. Photo report. February Junior Fun Tournament 23.02.07 A fun tournament was held for juniors on 22 February 2007. The fifteen entrants were split into two sections based approximately on ability. A very competitive Section A was won by Jamie Lamont with 5.5/7. Aarran Morgan won all his games to take Section B. Photo report.
Easter Junior Fun Tournament 02.04.07 AA fun tournament was held for juniors on 29 March 2007. The tournament was held as a casual Swiss with seventeen participants. Cameron Conway finally won his first fun tournament of the year (9/11). Final Table. End of Season Blitz Tournament 02.04.07 A six-player round robin blitz tournament was held on 29 March 2007 The tournament was won, for the second year running, by Alan Borwell (5/5).
SEASON 2005-06
Club Championship 25.08.06 The club championship was played as a 18 player all-play tournament, with games arranged at mutually convenient times. Alan Borwell won with 9/9, with Amy Officer also unbeaten on 8/8. Final Table Club Junior Championship 23.03.06 The junior championship was played as a 12 player all-play tournament, with games arranged at mutually convenient times. Rory Duthie won with a score of 7/7. Final Table End of Season Blitz Tournament 30.03.06 A seven round Swiss tournament was held on 30 March 2006 The tournament was won by Alan Borwell (7/7). Table Christmas Blitz Tournament 23.12.05 A seven round Swiss tournament was held on 22 December 2005. The tournament was won by Alan Borwell (7/7), and second place (and best junior) was taken by Ross Grant (5/7). Table
