The Club will again be competing in the Tayside and Fife League (TAFCA) There will be Club Championship tournaments for stronger players and for juniors, with other special events to be organised throughout the season, including several junior fun evenings.

The most recent Chess Scotland Grading List contains 28 Carse of Gowrie players, with more than 20 of them being juniors, which is most encouraging. Since the end of last season, young Declan Shafi (age7) has won top prize in the North British Land Championship in Manchester (winning every game!) and 1st prize in the Chess Scotland Grand Prix for 5-9 year old juniors!

All standards of chess player, from beginners to experts, will be most welcome to come along to develop their understanding, playing skills and enjoyment of the game of chess. Junior coaching sessions (6.30pm –7.15pm) are structured, ranging from beginners groups to advanced sessions for more experienced junior players. Adult coaching is also available even for beginners!
